I LET'S REMEMBER OUR LOST HERO "ELMER SIMS WWII
Elmer Sims WWII
Today I took took flowers and an American flag and placed them on my fathers gravesite. Although he did not sacrifice his life to this war, he returned home with horrific emotional scars as to what he had experienced and seen.He would tell of how he was driving the rear truck of a convoy when a V-8 buzz bomb hit the convoy killing everyone except for the first truck and the last. My father witnessed the death of all of his Division and good friends.
Later on he was assigned to go into a Concentration Camp that was being liberated. He said that he could not believe that there would be people on this earth that would treat other people as these people had been treated. He witnessed prisoners that were so thin that their bones stuck out, furnaces where human beings had been cremated, and big pits where bodies had been thrown. Horrific emotional scars that were with him for the rest of his life.
Today I honor all those soldiers who gave their lives to our country. Also, to those that returned home with physical scars, and those that lived the rest of their lives with the horror, scenes, and experiences of war.
